What type of information do we collect?

The only information we collect on our website about individual users is that provided voluntarily by the user. When specific personal information is needed to provide a service or relevant information, HITS will explicitly ask for such information from the user. When website users provide personally identifiable information (name, e-mail or home address, phone) HITS will not disclose this information to anyone unless the user specifies that we may do so, or unless required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, to protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of HITS, you or others; and to permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain. Only statistical information about HITS users as a group (usage, demographics, etc.) may be shared with any affiliate, subsidiary, sponsor, advertiser or partner of HITS, unless an appropriate confidentiality agreement that disallows this is in place. How do we use the Information collected?

HITS may collect three types of information from its web site users:

personally identifiable information supplied directly by the user; cookies placed during an online session to deliver content specific to the users interest; and aggregate information collected through the use of our website or delivery of our services.

When a user registers at HITS web sites they supply personally identifiable information to enable us to contact them. They typically provide their name, address, phone and e-mail address, organization and/or role. The user’s contact information is used to contact the user when necessary. Users may choose (opt-in, referenced below) to receive future mailings. HITS uses this data to tailor the user’s experience at HITSconsultinggroup.com, showing the user content that reflects their stated preferences. This information may be shared with affiliates, subsidiaries, sponsors, advertisers or partners on an aggregate basis, but personally identifiable information will not be disclosed without the user’s prior consent.

HITS may place a text file called a “cookie” in the browser files of the users computer during an online session to deliver content specific to their interests. However, HITS Web Site cookies do not contain personal information.

Aggregate information is collected through server logs which log IP Address activities. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. HITS collects IP addresses in order to conduct system administration, report aggregate information to affiliates, subsidiaries, sponsors, advertisers or partners, and to conduct site analysis. HITS will also use IP addresses to identify any users who refuse to comply with the Terms of Use of this site or who threaten our services, sites, users, clients or others.
